Contact eczema occurs when the skin comes into direct contact with the allergen. It belongs to the group of allergies known as "delayed allergies" (Type IV Allergy) because the allergic reaction first occurs 24 to 48 hours after contact with the allergen.
There are different forms of eczema, depending on where is is found on the body: head, eyelid, armpit, hand, leg, and foot eczema.
