Causes and triggers

Frequent triggers of mastocytosis include:

  • Medications, including local anaesthetics, morphin derivatives, codeine, narotics, narcotic gases, acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin), amphotecerin B
  • Insect venoms (bee and wasp stings), snake venom, jellyfish venom
  • Physical stress: overactivity, heat, cold, abrasion, sunlight
  • Alcohol or strong spices/flavours
  • Food or food additives
  • Emotional stress
  • Infectious disease
  • Allergies
