Wash & Coffee gets ECARF quality seal

European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation honours new laundromat with café for its allergy-friendly concept

For the first time, the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF) has designated a laundromat as “allergy-friendly“. Wash & Coffee, a combination laundromat-café in Munich’s Glockenbach district, presents an innovative new concept in which both areas are equipped to meet the needs of allergy sufferers. The laundry area offers allergen-free detergents and fabric softeners particularly suitable for persons with skin or respiratory allergies. High-quality washing machines offer special wash cycles such as “sensitive” to ensure that detergents are rinsed completely from all clothing – as opposed to the industrial washing machines with a shortened rinse cycle available in standard laundromats. In the café area, persons with food allergies can enjoy an array of special products.

“Wash & Coffee offers a comprehensive set of services to allergy patients in a modern and stylish atmosphere. The intelligent use of high-quality washing machines and detergents and the café offerings suitable for allergic persons help to improve quality of life for allergic persons”, explains Prof. Dr. med. Torsten Zuberbier, head of the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF).

The European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF) awards the ECARF Seal of Quality to allergy-friendly products and services based on scientifically determined criteria. The seal offers practical solutions to help allergy sufferers reduce contact with allergens and allergy triggers.
