Allergy-friendly community: Baltic Sea resort Baabe

The goal of the ECARF Seal of Quality is to support products and services that serve the needs of allergy sufferers.
It is never possible to guarantee the ideal of a completely 100% allergen free product. Pollen, for example, may travel the length of entire continents; plants used to make food products may be contaminated by other wild-growing plants even before they are harvested.
The Seal stands for practical solutions for allergy sufferers, as the majority of allergy sufferers enjoy significant improvement in quality of life through just a few helpful measures.

Allergy-friendly communities make travelling easier for persons with allergic illnesses.

The Baltic Sea resort community of Baabe offers a wide array of services that help allergy-sufferers have an enjoyable vacation: holiday homes, hotels, pensions, cafés, restaurants, bakeries and supermarkets offer a wide array of products and services for allergy sufferers, all in keeping with the motto, “We’re joining in!”

For those with food product allergies, cafés and bistros offer gluten-free and lactose-free products, as well as ice cream and cakes that are produced without eggs.

In addition to hotels and restaurants certified according to ECARF criteria, many cafés and bistros in Baabe support the project by advertising their own special offers for allergy sufferers – i.e. “we have ice cream made without milk”.

With this special network of individual offerings, allergic persons have a better chance at an enjoyable holiday.

Important: Allergy sufferers should always bring their medication with them. This applies in particular to emergency medication for food allergies. Medical advice is available locally. Each allergic person must be aware that the complete absence of allergens can never be guaranteed, neither at home nor on holiday.
