Urticaria Symposium
In October 2004, some 400 skin doctors analysed numerous international studies on the roughly 15 different forms of hives. The project was conducted under the leadership of the
Ga²len, the Global Allergy and Asthma European Network within the 6th framework research program of the European Union, and the European Academy for Allergology and Clinical Immunology
EAACI.
The evaluations were intended to lead to uniform European guidelines that would eventually aid in precise identification, classification, and diagnosis of urticaria. The guidelines will likely be officially adopted in the summer of 2005.
