Various diagnostic programs can help find the source of chronic urticaria.
First, the patient should adhere to a special diet for four weeks, and record the exact progression of symptoms.
The next step is a weeklong series of tests in hospital, during which blood, stool and urine are tested; the patient is examined with x-ray and ultrasound; and the patient is tested for sensitivity to foods, histamine, and skin irritants.
The patient’s stress levels are also analyzed: stress can cause urticaria, and of course is often a result of dealing with chronic urticaria.
