ECARF awards quality seal for the Hollywood Media Hotel in Berlin

For the first time the European Center for Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF), located in the Department of Dermatology and Allergy Charité, has awarded one of Berlin's grand hotels the "ECARF Quality Seal for Allergy-Friendly Products and Services". The seal guarantees an allergy friendly service in the hotel lobby, restaurant and guest rooms.

"The process of our certification included checking for indoor allergens and advising as to how prevent them in the future as well as special training of the service personnel, for instance the kitchen personnel, trained by an nutritionist specialized in allergic diseases", explains Professor Torsten Zuberbier, head of ECARF.

The award went to the Hollywood Media Hotel which now offers specially furnished rooms for allergics on a separate floor. The indoor furnishings comply with the special quality requirements, for example for persons allergic to house dust mite the rooms are equipped with encasing and do not have any carpets or plants known to cause allergies. To reduce the allergen concentration in the whole hotel, a special air conditioning system has been installed in the lobby and the restaurant.
