The Allergy Conference Berlin "Allergies in a changing society - Trifle or societal challenge?" was hosted by the Allergy Centre Charité in collaboration with the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF) from 9th to 10th March, 2007.

Lectures, workshops and discussions followed the opening remarks by Professor Detlev Ganten, the chairman of the Executive Board of the Charité. The conference concluded with a joint statement on the need for stronger protection of and therapies for allergy patients. The statement called for a stronger link between medicine and politics, citing the €100 billion in avoidable socioeconomic damages already caused by allergies in the EU.
