In Europe, there are about 150.000 people suffering from pulmonary diseases, and this number is increasing constantly. Mite-proof encasings for mattresses, pillows and comforters provides protection against dust mite allergens and prevent allergic symptoms such as asthma. The textile material Evolon has a compact fibre structure due to a special manufacturing process. The material has no coating and no chemicals.

Dust mites are present in every household environment and prefer beds. The trigger of allergies is not the mite itself, but its droppings. Sensitive persons could react to these with allergic symptoms. Allergic diseases reduce the quality of life and work.

The producer of the mite-proof encasings, the firm Freudenberg, has its headquarters in Colmar, France.

The European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation – ECARF awards its Seal of Quality to allergy-friendly products and services Europe-wide since 2004. The non-commercial foundation is based at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and is committed specially to research, diagnostics and therapy of allergies. Head of ECARF is Prof. Dr. med. Torsten Zuberbier who is also the spokesperson of the Allergie-Centrum-Charité.
