The Berlin network aims to improve the structure of care for patients with severe allergic asthma (SAA) through a close cooperation with the Allergy-Centre-Charité and established doctors in Berlin and Brandenburg.
Severe allergic asthma (SAA) deprives the patient not only of air, but also of quality of life. If the care for this chronic affliction can be improved, the medical and personal health of the patients will improve as well.
There are two spokespersons for the SAA Network: Professor Dr. Karl-Christian Bergmann and Professor Dr. Eckard Hamelmann. Professor Bergmann specializes in lung and bronchial medicine at the Allergy Centre Charité and is one of the expert team of ECARF (European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation). Professor Bergmann is the contact person for adults older than 18. Professor Hamelmann is a doctor for paediatric medicine at the Charité Campus Virchow and is the contact person for children age 12-17.
