"The Mercure Hotel is very well attuned to the needs of allergy sufferers," reports Prof. Dr. med. Torsten Zuberbier, head of the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF). "The allergy-oriented meal options and the specially equipped rooms help allergic persons to enjoy a comfortable stay."
The hotel offers a total of six allergy-friendly rooms. The rooms are equipped with parquet floors and leather furniture, and the mattresses are fitted with mite-proof encasings. Pets are restricted from the allergy-friendly rooms as well as from the restaurant area, which is also non-smoking. The meal options have been expanded to include allergen-free products such as lactose-free milk as well as mueslis and breads free of nuts and almonds. All products include a detailed listing of ingredients. Specialty food products such as celery-free broth, ice cream free of eggs and nuts, or eggless breading for fish sticks or chicken products are produced on-site. The entire hotel staff is trained to respond to questions about the allergy-oriented offerings and to help guests avoid contact with allergens.
The European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF) awards the ECARF Seal of Quality without compensation to products and services that meet the needs of allergy sufferers. The Seal provides allergic persons with practical solutions to help reduce contact with allergens and allergy triggers.
