Clothing can trigger allergic reactions or skin irritation due certain substances. The ECARF Seal of Quality certifies clothing as allergy-friendly that has less irritation potential. Certification requirements vary based on the clothing’s intended use and level of skin contact. The aim is to minimize potential allergens and enhance skin tolerance, benefitting even non-allergic individuals. Special features, such as dust mite protection or UV shielding, can also be certified.
Despite thorough testing, allergic reactions cannot be entirely ruled out.
Since the first seal was awarded in 2006, thousands of certificates have been granted. The Allergy Seal of Quality is a service of the ECARF Foundation.
